    We are hiring an Emergency Dispatcher for our customer the United States Postal Service. 

    Starting hourly wage is $17.87 per hour, plus fully paid employer medical, dental and vision plan, paid vacation, 401(k) retirement savings and health savings accounts.

    JOB SUMMARY- Provide centrally managed law enforcement radio monitoring with event logging and recording, alarm monitoring of intrusion detection systems, emergency dispatch, and incident reporting. In addition, the National Law Enforcement Communication Center (NLECC) will provide after‑hours emergency phone coverage.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS-

    • Operate and monitor communications via the NLECC radio communications network.
    • Coordinate first responder notification.
    • Receive and transmit communications on National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and the National Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (NLETS) inquiries.
    • Monitor intrusion detection systems following automated alarm monitoring software instructions, initiate internal or police response based on defined criteria, accurately capture event information, confirm accuracy of data recorded in the alarm database, and interact with Postal employees including Inspectors, customers, and police departments.

    Qualifications

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- All dispatch personnel assigned to the NLECC must meet the following minimum requirements:

    • Be a citizen of the United States of America (with 5 years US residency)
    • 21 years of age or older;
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Have a minimum 1 year previous satisfactory work experience as a law enforcement dispatcher, or dispatcher in civilian or military environments or 1 year experience in central station alarm monitoring or 1 year experience as a security dispatcher.
    • Possess strong computer and data entry skills, including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email software. Experience with alarm monitoring software is desirable;
    • Ability to type 40 WPM
    • Must have DCJS Central Station Dispatch License (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hiring).
    • Must be able to work weekends and holidays
