  • Overview

    The Armed Security Officers should enable the safe conduct of commerce and public life.  This position serves to protect the lives of others against the unlawful use, or threatened use, of unlawful physical force.  Typical responsibilities include:  standing a fixed post; patrolling an area on foot or in a vehicle; enforcing access control procedures; protecting personnel and high-value property; enforcing company and client policies; observing, reporting, and documenting violations of policy by notifying the Shift Lieutenant or Control Dispatch; responding to incidents; work closely with law enforcement; using reasonable force, up to and including lethal force, when necessary to protect life.

    Responsibilities

    General Orders:  Armed Security Officers must comply with the General Orders of Command Security Corporation.  All Armed Security Officers will:

    1. Remain alert, avoid distractions, and observe all activity around the post;
    2. Protect everyone and everything within the limits and duties of the post;
    3. Give the alarm and assist in response to a fire or other emergency;
    4. Document all incidents and violations of the client’s policies and procedures by contacting their Shift Lieutenant or Control Room Dispatch Center;
    5. Officers will remain on post and wait until they have a face to face relief.

     

    Client Satisfaction:  The Armed Security Officer establishes and maintains a safe environment for Command Security’s clients and employees. 

    Qualifications

    Requirements:  Armed Security Officers must pass the following requirements and comply with Command Security Corporation, client and State Law Rules and Regulations.

    • New York State Unrestricted License to Carry Pistol.
    • NYS Armed Security Guard License.
    • Armed Security Officer Training Requalification (with the exception of “Exempt” Armed Officers not required to take the course due to status according to NYS Division of Criminal Justice and NYS Department of Licensing):
    • 8 Hour NRA Basic Pistol Safety Course (non-firing) as required by Westchester County, New York;
    • 47 Hour Firearms Training Course:
      • 7 Hours of classroom instruction on NYS Penal Law (Article 35);
      • 40 Hours of range training to include qualification.

    Annual In-Service Training and Requalification (with the exception of “Exempt” Armed Officers not required to take the course due to status according to NYS Division of Criminal Justice and NYS Department of Licensing):

    • 8 Hours of annual, in-service security training;
    • 8 Hours of annual, in-service firearms training;
      • 3 Hours of classroom instruction on the Use of Force;
      • 5 Hours of range training with weapon qualification.
    • Defense Tactic Training: 4 Hours of Baton / ASP tactical Training.
    • Annual PMCS (Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations) Training.
