Overview

Security Guard and Wheelchair Escort

 

  1. Patrols:
    1. Guard, Patrol, or monitor premises to prevent safety hazards, theft, violence, or infractions of rules.
    2. Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
    3. Patrols industrial and commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
  2. Responds to Emergency Situations such as fires, Chemical Spills, Medical Emergencies, Bomb Threats, Explosions and answers alarms and investigate disturbances.
  3. Provides customer service in accordance with company established standards and expectations.
    1. Provides escort services for occupants of client property, as requested.
    2. Provides public assistance, including lockout and other services and information.
  4. Makes immediate reports to designated company and client personnel and information.
  5. Answers telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closed.
  6. Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  7. Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security/safety of premises.
  8. May be required to operate company or client owned vehicles, providing safe and efficient transportation as required.
  9. May be requested to perform other duties as assigned by Manager’s needs.

  11. Examines wheelchairs daily for any required repairs, needed maintenance and level of cleanliness.
    1. Checks brakes
    2. Checks footrests
    3. Inspects seat and back
    4. Inspects wheels
    5. Checks handgrips
    6. Evaluates overall cleanliness of wheelchair
  12. Reports any required maintenance or needed repairs to Manager. Cleans wheelchair between     uses.
  13. Responds to Dispatch request for passenger or airline assistance.
  14. Provides physical assistance to seat and transport passengers to their destinations.
  15. Informs passenger of transport procedure. Demonstrate a professional attitude and respect toward the passenger.
  16. May escort passenger in wheelchair through security checkpoints.
  17. Follows all safety rules. Observes and reports any unsafe or hazardous conditions immediately to their manager or proper authority.
  18. Remains with passenger until released to the airlines or departs terminal.
  19. Notifies dispatch upon completion of each assignment.
  20. May be requested to perform other duties as assigned based on Manager’s needs or airline activity.

  2. Remain alert and aware of the surroundings.
  3. Able to think clearly during crisis or high-stress periods.
  4. Possess empathetic abilities in dealing with employees and their questions.
  5. Demonstrate ability to work with others and interact appropriately.
  6. Maintains communication with other managers. Relates information regarding events or situations that may effect operations.

Qualifications

Working Conditions:

Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Must be flexible to work scheduled and non/scheduled hours as required.
May be exposed to high levels of noise or variations in weather and temperature
May be expose to high levels of noise in the terminals.

  • Physical demands placed on employee when dealing with passengers of varying weights and temperaments.

Must be flexible to work scheduled and/or non-scheduled hours as required.Must be able to control wheelchair with passenger and maneuver through crowded or tight spaces.
