Overview

The Director of Operations, Aviation East provides general management and oversight of the Eastern Region Aviation operations and administration, and reports to the Vice President, Aviation.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain and manage strong client relationships with an emphasis on growth
  • Work quickly and efficiently to solve client problems, provide clear, honest analysis and logical methodology for resolution
  • Develop and implement performance management processes for the Eastern Aviation operations with a primary focus on the New York, New Jersey, Baltimore, Washington D.C, Pittsburgh, and other airport operations
  • Create and implement competitive strategies and plans; accurately forecast and plan for future consequences based on business decisions
  • Create, analyze, and report on financial, labor, and customer service metrics for Eastern Aviation operations; leverage current and emerging technologies to ensure proper execution by airport level management
  • Provide performance analysis support and coaching to airport managers to ensure understanding of performance drivers for revenue and operating cost variances; regularly report to CEO, CFO, and VP, Aviation
  • Investigate and manage response to regional Breach of Regulations (BOR’s) and ensure that performance deficiencies are adequately addressed in a timely manner
  • Consistently audit and evaluate quality and capabilities of the Eastern Region Aviation operations; create and implement performance models; coach and support management staff to actively address gaps
  • Oversee Eastern region business development efforts, including development of pricing and technical plans
  • Provide support and guidance to airport General Managers in the development of annual operating plans and budgets
  • Develop, coach, and mentor direct reports; provide challenging tasks and assignments to increase knowledge and operational capability
  • Oversee Kew Gardens office administration team; pursue opportunities to increase regional administrative support efficiencies while minimizing incremental overhead to facilitate regional growth
  • Support new airport start-up operations and/or operational turn-around as needed
  • Oversee other initiatives and projects as directed by the VP, Aviation

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of professional management experience
  • Minimum of ten years operational management experience preferably in a labor intensive, service-related industry, and union environment
  • Strong understanding of current and emerging technologies and how these apply to internal and client business needs
  • Strong understanding of project management and structured frameworks for problem solving and process improvement
  • Strong understanding of P&L statements, financial analysis, performance indicators and ratios a must
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field; MBA is a plus
  • Advanced capabilities in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Self-starter, capable of working autonomously
  • Team- oriented, creates an inclusive and motivating work environment
  • Action oriented; seizes opportunities, makes quick and efficient decisions
  • Works well under pressure, motivates others to do the same
